This summer I went to a yard sale and found a whole bunch of in tact, cute stuffed animals. I washed them on hot and brought those that survived the wash to school with me for the kids to use as reading buddies during reading time. The kids love their buddies and look forward to self selected reading time.

I love this idea! In the past I have always picked one day a month, usually on a Friday, for kids to bring in their own reading buddies from home and I gave them extra time during DEAR time. Having stuffed reading buddies in the classroom allows me to incorporate this special time into my reading center. Once I finish a guided reading group or one-on-one assessment, they can go read with a special buddy. The kids love it! Thanks!
