Square tissue boxes make for a fun game that can reinforce all sorts of skills across the curriculum. I cover each side with a concept I want to reinforce, using one side per item. Some examples of what I have used in the past are colors, numbers, letters, seasons, animals, community helpers, parts of a plant, coins, sight words, depending on what grade I was teaching. The possibilities are really endless! To play the game, children roll the cube to one another and name what side faces them. Children can play as a large group, in a center or even with just a partner. Just have parents donate square tissue boxes and when enough runny noses have used up all the tissues in a tissue box, you have your learning tool. Works well with ESL student too. Hope you can use this teaching idea!
