As an icebreaker on the first day of school I have played Name Bingo with my second graders. I give each student a blank bingo card and have them wander around the room meeting each other, learning names while getting different children to sign in each box. When their cards are full, they all sit down with markers and get ready to play. I pull names of class members out of a hat as kids cross off their boxes. The first three students to have their whole cards filled are the winners and get an applause. Continue playing until all names have been called.
