Handprint Paper Wreath

Next Steps

Here’s a great Christmas / holiday activity I do every December with my first graders.

What you’ll need is green and red construction paper, pencils, scissors, glue and possibly some glitter, but this is optional.

Have children trace and cut out their handprints on green paper.  They will need 10 to 12 handprints.  Next, have children glue their handprints together in wreath shape with wrists overlapping a bit.  Have students lay out their wreath before they start to glue.  You may also wish to use a paper plate as a guide, just cut out the center and give them the leftover circle to glue handprints on.

Once the wreath is complete have students cut out a red bow or use red ribbon to add a bow.  They can also decorate their wreath with glitter.
